Overseas Partner Projects

Overseas Volunteer Programme

We currently have projects in the following countries:

Here are some examples of the projects you could be volunteering with:

Ghana: Youth Creating Change (YCC)

Based within the Volta Region, YCC is an organisation which aims to empower young people to make positive change in their community through youth leadership, peer education and volunteering. You could be working with YCC as a Youth & Community Worker delivering social education programmes for young people. In the past, volunteers have delivered workshops on first aid, confidence and self-esteem, public speaking, and healthy relationships.

Botswana: Tswang Learning Communities

Tswang is a non-profit organisation that promotes the culture of local communities. Their vision is to enable individuals and communities to build confidence and come into their own. The word Tswang means to ‘come out.’ Tswang are looking for volunteers who can support their fundraising and administration departments, helping to find new and innovative ways the organisation can become more sustainable. You could also be working with Tsang as a Programmes Assistant, working directly with young people to create new and exciting opportunities.

Bangladesh: LEEDO

LEEDO is a non-profit voluntary based development charity established in 2000 and initiated by a group of educated social activists aiming to improve the lifestyle of Street Children who are living in difficulties on the streets because they are very vulnerable. LEEDO run a number of programmes including a Transitional Shelter, a Peace Home for street children with disabilities and a Mobile School. As a volunteer you would be supporting the organisation with project planning and research. Any work with the children would be on a very structured basis. For example, assisting teachers in lessons, helping with school work and other organised activities.

What kind of work would you like to do?

These are just a few examples, and we have a number of roles available, including: Teaching Assistant (nursey, primary, secondary & adult), Youth & Community Worker, Learning Mentor, Support Worker (for young people with disabilities) and Counselling.

Please note:

  • Most projects require a commitment of between 6 weeks and 12 months.
  • At least 6 months of advance preparation is normally required.
  • Most projects are suitable for pairs as well as individual volunteers.
  • Our projects do change over time and there may be new ones which are not listed here. Also we may be able to help you organise a volunteer placement in an organisation you have identified yourself.

To apply, please fill in our application form, and make sure you’ve checked out our information on volunteering with the Daneford Trust
