OVERSEAS VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
The Overseas Volunteer Programme (OVP) provides opportunities for Londoners aged between 18-30 years to volunteer at community-based projects in Africa, Asia and The Caribbean. You don’t need any specific qualifications – just enthusiasm and the commitment to undertake your project. Experience of working or volunteering with children, young people or local communities is useful, but not essential. We are keen to help those who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to volunteer overseas. To get an understanding of what it means to volunteer with the Daneford Trust watch our Volunteer Stories film below.
Where can I do volunteer work and what would I be doing? See our Overseas Projects page for examples of the partners we work with overseas.
How much will it cost me? Unlike many volunteering or gap year organisations and companies, the Daneford Trust does not charge any fees and can help you to raise 100% of your expenses through local funding sources. This usually takes several months, but you will be given plenty of support and advice.
When can I go? Departures at most times of the year. Because we are a small organisation, we can be very flexible, helping you to fit in your placement around your studies or your career break. Most placements require a commitment of between 2 and 12 months. On your return, we encourage you to stay in contact with your project and share your experiences with your local community in the UK. Many volunteers choose to continue supporting the trust by assisting with events, fundraising, networking, recruitment and publicity.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please download the Awards Application – for Individuals or Awards Application – for Groups. Applicants should be between 18-30 and currently living in London.
Once you have filled in your application, please send it to firstname.lastname@example.org
